Terms of Service

The agreement for using My Instructor Finder, requesting instructor availability checks, paying booking fees and using Spread The Cost packages.

Last updated: 6 May 2026

Plain-English summary

My Instructor Finder is a directory, availability-checking, coordination and booking handover platform. We help learners check whether an independent instructor can take them on. We are not a driving school, lender, finance broker, escrow provider, client-money provider or lesson provider. Driving lessons are delivered by independent instructors.

1. Agreement and policies

These Terms of Service apply when you access or use MyInstructorFinder, including browsing instructor profiles, submitting an availability request, receiving messages from us, using a tracking page, paying a booking fee, using a Spread The Cost package, creating an account, claiming an instructor profile or otherwise interacting with the platform.

By using the service, submitting a request or starting checkout, you agree to these terms. You also agree to the Refund Policy, the Privacy Policy, and, where you use a managed lesson package or finance option, the Spread The Cost Terms.

If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the site, submit a request or start payment.

2. Definitions

In these terms:

  • "My Instructor Finder", "we", "us" or "our" means the operator of https://www.myinstructorfinder.co.uk.
  • "Learner" means a person looking for driving lessons or submitting a request.
  • "Instructor" means an independent driving instructor, driving school, franchisee or training provider listed on, contacted through, or introduced via the platform.
  • "Availability request" means a learner request asking us to check whether an instructor can cover the learner and offer lesson terms.
  • "Confirmed offer" means an instructor has given enough information for us to present the learner with proposed start details, price, lesson type, location, payment method and key terms.
  • "Booking fee" means the platform fee charged for securing and coordinating the instructor handover. It is not payment for driving lessons.
  • "Spread The Cost package" means a managed package payment option that may include instructor lesson costs, platform coordination, payment handling, handover support and refund protection if the agreed start cannot go ahead.
  • "Handover" means releasing agreed contact details and booking terms to the learner and instructor so they can complete the practical lesson arrangement.

3. What My Instructor Finder does

We help learners find and check availability with driving instructors. Depending on the active mode of the platform, we may provide one or more of the following services:

  • displaying instructor profiles, areas, prices, reviews and availability signals;
  • allowing learners to submit a request for a chosen instructor;
  • contacting instructors by SMS, email, call or other operational methods;
  • asking instructors whether they cover the pickup area, can provide the requested transmission, can start within the learner's timeframe and what price or package applies;
  • creating a tracking page where the learner can follow the request;
  • presenting a confirmed offer to the learner when an instructor responds with suitable terms;
  • processing a booking fee before releasing handover details;
  • where available, presenting a Spread The Cost package after instructor terms are confirmed;
  • recording communications and payment evidence for support, refunds and disputes.

We may change how the platform works over time. The public copy, checkout wording and policy acceptance shown at the time of payment will govern that specific paid transaction.

4. What My Instructor Finder does not provide

My Instructor Finder is not responsible for delivering driving lessons. We do not:

  • provide driving instruction, vehicles, insurance, driving tests or learner-driver training;
  • employ, manage or supervise instructors as staff;
  • guarantee that any instructor will reply, accept a request, keep availability open or guarantee a start date;
  • guarantee pass results, progress speed, test readiness, instructor conduct or learner outcomes;
  • act as a lender, credit broker, finance adviser, escrow provider, trustee, bank, deposit holder or client-money service;
  • store full card details or decide finance eligibility;
  • verify every historic review, profile claim or public listing in real time.

5. Learner responsibilities

Learners must use the platform honestly and provide accurate information. You agree that you will:

  • provide a real name, mobile number, email address, pickup area and lesson requirements;
  • only submit requests where you are genuinely considering lessons;
  • respond promptly where we or an instructor need clarification;
  • check that any confirmed offer is suitable before paying;
  • tell us promptly if your requirements change, if you cannot start, or if you need to cancel a managed package;
  • treat instructors and our team respectfully;
  • not submit fake, abusive, misleading, automated or duplicate requests;
  • not use the platform to harvest contact details, manipulate availability, bypass protections or avoid a fee after we secure a handover.

You are responsible for ensuring you hold the correct provisional licence, eyesight requirements and any legal requirements before driving lessons begin.

6. Instructor responsibilities

Instructors remain independent providers. Instructors are responsible for:

  • accurate profile information, service areas, transmission type, lesson prices and lesson lengths;
  • their ADI, PDI or other professional status and any badge or qualification information they provide;
  • vehicle suitability, roadworthiness, insurance, dual controls where applicable and professional conduct;
  • honouring any availability, price, package, payment method, start date or handover terms they confirm;
  • telling us promptly if they are full, unavailable, in the wrong area or unable to meet the learner's requirements;
  • contacting the learner promptly after a confirmed handover where we ask them to do so.

We may hide, suspend or remove an instructor profile where the instructor repeatedly does not respond, provides inaccurate information, receives credible complaints, asks learners to bypass agreed platform rules, or creates risk for learners or the platform.

7. Availability checks and handover

An availability request is not a confirmed lesson booking. It is a request for us to check whether the chosen instructor can take the learner on.

When an instructor confirms terms, we may present the learner with a tracking page. Contact details may remain hidden until the required booking fee, instructor handover fee, or package payment is completed. Once payment is completed, we may release the relevant handover details and ask the instructor to message or call the learner directly.

If the instructor does not reply within the stated timeframe, the request may expire. We may notify the learner by email or SMS depending on the value of the update and the cost of sending messages.

8. Booking fees

A booking fee may be charged after an instructor confirms availability and key terms. The booking fee pays for My Instructor Finder securing the response, coordinating the offer, running the handover and providing platform support. It is not a deposit for lessons and it is not paid to the instructor unless expressly stated.

The booking fee amount is shown before checkout. The payer must accept the relevant legal wording before Stripe checkout opens. We record that acceptance, including policy versions, accepted text, IP address, user agent, email and Stripe checkout session where available.

Instructor-pays mode: When this mode is active, the directory availability request is free for the learner. For new invoice-after-booking requests, if the learner accepts agreed terms, contact details are released and we invoice the instructor for the booking fee, due after the agreed first lesson date. Older in-flight requests may still use the previous upfront booking-fee path.

Booking fee refunds are governed by the Refund Policy. In summary, the fee is refundable if the instructor cannot start on the agreed date or agreed start window, withdraws before the first lesson, materially changes confirmed terms, or if we cannot complete the handover through no fault of the learner. The fee may be retained where we have secured the agreed handover and the refund protection does not apply.

9. Spread The Cost packages

Spread The Cost may be offered only after an instructor package is confirmed. A package may include the agreed instructor lesson package, My Instructor Finder coordination, payment handling, handover support, risk reserve and platform margin.

Finance options are subject to eligibility. Stripe and any available payment provider such as Klarna control their own customer checks, payment methods, approvals, payment schedules and provider terms. My Instructor Finder is not a lender and does not decide whether finance is approved.

The learner sees a managed package price. We do not present payment-provider costs as a separate surcharge. Full rules are set out in the Spread The Cost Terms.

10. Instructor payouts for managed packages

Where My Instructor Finder receives payment for a managed package, the instructor amount owed, estimated processor fee, platform margin, risk reserve and payout status may be recorded in our admin ledger.

Funds may be held pending scheduled instructor payout. This is not escrow, client money, a regulated payment account or a trust arrangement. Payout timing is recorded for the booking and may be upfront, on the morning of the first lesson, after first lesson confirmation, weekly, lesson-by-lesson, or another documented arrangement.

If a learner cancels or changes a package, they must tell My Instructor Finder before the relevant payout deadline. If we pay an instructor according to the recorded payout schedule because the learner did not tell us in time, we may not be able to recover those funds and we are not responsible for avoidable losses except where the law requires otherwise.

11. Cancellations, changes and refunds

Our refund approach is designed to be fair and proportionate. Refunds are not handled on a blanket "no refunds ever" basis. Refunds depend on what was purchased, what work has been performed, what lesson services have been delivered or made available, whether the instructor caused the failure, whether the learner notified us in time, and what the law requires.

For booking fees and managed packages, the detailed rules are in the Refund Policy. Where a partial refund applies, reasonable deductions may include lessons delivered, reasonable instructor cancellation fees, work already performed by My Instructor Finder, payment processing restrictions, and a reasonable cancellation or administration deduction capped at up to 25% of the quoted package where appropriate and lawful.

If a learner pays an instructor directly outside My Instructor Finder, that direct payment is between the learner and instructor. We are not responsible for refunding direct instructor payments unless we have separately agreed otherwise in writing.

12. Consumer rights and immediate service

Nothing in these terms removes rights that cannot be excluded under UK consumer law. Where the learner asks us to begin work immediately, for example by contacting an instructor, coordinating a handover or opening a checkout after confirmed terms, the learner acknowledges that the service may begin straight away.

Where legally required, cancellation rights will be assessed in line with applicable law. If a service has been fully performed with the learner's agreement or if chargeable work has already been carried out, refunds may be reduced or unavailable to the extent permitted by law and explained in our policies.

13. Payments and payment providers

Payments are processed by Stripe and available payment methods. We do not store full card details. Stripe, Klarna or another payment provider may apply separate terms, identity checks, fraud checks, authorisations, declined-payment rules, refund timings and chargeback processes.

We may refuse, cancel, refund or pause a payment where we suspect fraud, abuse, technical error, duplicate payment, sanctions risk, payment misuse, identity mismatch or any other risk to the platform, learner or instructor.

If a chargeback, dispute or payment query is opened, we may provide evidence to the payment provider, including request details, accepted policy versions, messages, instructor confirmations, handover records, payout records, tracking-page activity and support history.

14. Anti-circumvention and misuse

The platform invests time and cost into finding, contacting and coordinating instructors. Learners and instructors must not use My Instructor Finder to obtain a confirmed platform handover and then deliberately bypass a fee, avoid agreed protections, misrepresent the source of the introduction or manipulate the platform.

We may block access, pause requests, withhold handover, cancel a request, preserve evidence, refuse future service or hide profiles where we reasonably suspect abuse, harassment, fake requests, duplicated attempts, fee avoidance, scraping, security misuse or attempts to exchange contact details before the relevant payment or handover step.

15. Profiles, reviews, public listings and content

Instructor profiles may be created from instructor-submitted information, claimed profile data, learner reviews, public directories, public websites, business listings, public registers or other lawful sources. Instructors can contact us to claim, correct, pause or request removal of a listing.

Reviews and submitted content must be lawful, truthful, relevant and based on genuine experience. We may moderate, edit, remove or refuse content that appears fake, abusive, discriminatory, defamatory, commercially manipulative, unlawful or misleading.

By submitting content, you confirm you have the right to submit it and grant us permission to use, display, edit for formatting, store and moderate it for platform purposes.

16. Accuracy, availability and service changes

We aim to keep information accurate, but profiles, prices, locations, availability and reviews can change. We do not guarantee that all site information is current, complete or error-free. Learners should review the confirmed offer and raise concerns before payment.

We may update, suspend, withdraw or change any part of the site, including pricing, features, modes, instructor listings, search behaviour or availability logic, where we believe it is necessary for the business, users or platform safety.

17. Accounts and security

If you create an account, you must keep your login details secure and tell us if you suspect unauthorised access. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, appear fraudulent, create risk, or remain inactive for a long period.

Some services may be available without an account. A tracking link may act as an access key, so you should not share it publicly.

18. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any liability that cannot be excluded under law.

Subject to that, My Instructor Finder is not responsible for lesson delivery, instructor conduct, vehicle issues, road incidents, driving-test results, learner progress, finance approval, payment-provider decisions, direct arrangements between learner and instructor, or losses caused by inaccurate information supplied by a learner or instructor.

Where we are liable for a paid platform service, our liability is limited to the amount paid to My Instructor Finder for that specific service, unless the law says otherwise.

We are not liable for business losses, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, indirect losses, consequential losses, or losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.

19. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may also have mandatory rights in the part of the UK where you live. Courts in England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any consumer rights that give you access to local courts.

20. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version accepted at checkout is recorded for paid transactions. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms for future use.

21. Contact and complaints

If you have a question, complaint, refund request, instructor listing request or policy query, contact us through the contact page. Please include your name, email, tracking link or booking reference, and a clear description of the issue.
