Refund Policy

How refunds work for fees paid to My Instructor Finder.

Last updated: 24 July 2026

Plain-English summary

Our current standard learner search is free: there is no learner search payment to refund and no account or card is required to submit it. If you previously paid for, or are separately offered, a paid matching service, the refund promise shown when you paid still applies. Lesson money never comes to us, so lesson payments and lesson refunds are always between you and your instructor. Instructors can dispute a booking setup fee where a confirmed booking genuinely did not proceed.

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers money actually paid to My Instructor Finder, including an earlier or separately purchased learner matching service and an instructor booking setup fee. The current standard learner search is free. This policy does not, and cannot, cover lesson payments, deposits or any money paid directly to an instructor. My Instructor Finder is an introduction service; we never collect, hold or handle lesson money, so we are never in a position to refund it. Any payment you make to an instructor is a private arrangement between you and them.

2. Earlier or separately purchased learner services

We previously offered a paid learner search and may separately offer an optional paid or priority matching service where the price, scope and applicable terms are clearly displayed before payment. If the service was sold with our money-back guarantee, the fee is refunded in full where:

  • your search ends without a suitable instructor offer, for any reason;
  • we present one or more offers and you decline them all;
  • your search expires before an offer is secured;
  • you ask us to stop the search before you have accepted an offer;
  • a duplicate or clearly mistaken payment is identified;
  • a refund is required under applicable law.

If you bought an earlier paid search, moving the standard public intake to a free model does not remove the rights or guarantee attached to that purchase. If a future optional paid service has different clearly disclosed terms, the terms presented at its checkout apply alongside rights that cannot be excluded by law.

3. When an earlier guaranteed search fee was kept

Under the earlier guaranteed search terms, the fee was kept when you formally accepted an instructor's offer on your review page. Acceptance was the point at which the paid introduction service was treated as delivered: an instructor was found, proposed terms were accepted and contact details were exchanged. Changing your mind after acceptance did not normally reverse the work performed, subject to section 4, the policy shown when you paid and your statutory rights.

4. If the instructor lets you down straight after acceptance

If you paid for a search covered by the earlier guarantee and, before your first lesson, the accepted instructor withdraws, cannot start within the agreed window, or the confirmed details turn out to be materially wrong through no fault of yours, contact us. Subject to the terms shown when you paid, we will either re-run the search at no extra cost or refund that search fee. This protection covers the introduction we made; it does not extend to anything that happens once lessons have started.

5. Lesson payments and deposits are between you and your instructor

All lesson pricing, packages, deposits, lesson payments, lesson cancellations and lesson refunds are agreed strictly between learner and instructor. We recommend never paying lesson money or a deposit to anyone you have not met and verified. Ask to see the instructor's ADI or PDI badge at or before the first lesson. We never arrange deposits on your behalf, and no one from My Instructor Finder will ever ask you to send lesson money to us.

If a payment dispute arises between you and an instructor, it is a matter between the two of you. We may take credible complaints into account when deciding whether an instructor remains listed, and we encourage you to report serious concerns, but we are not responsible for resolving, refunding or compensating lesson-payment disputes.

6. Instructor booking setup fee

The instructor booking setup fee becomes payable when a learner accepts terms the instructor agreed through the platform, as set out in the instructor invoice terms accepted by the instructor. If a confirmed booking genuinely never proceeds, instructors can raise a dispute from the invoice page; disputed invoices pause all reminders while we review. Invoices for bookings that never went ahead through no fault of the instructor are voided or refunded once verified. Invoices are not refunded merely because the instructor and learner later rearrange lessons or renegotiate terms between themselves.

7. How refunds are processed

Refunds of fees paid to us go back to the original payment method through Stripe. Once approved, the time before a refund appears depends on the payment provider, bank or card issuer. To request a refund or ask about one, use the contact page and include your name, email address and, where available, the tracking link or invoice reference.

8. Fraud, abuse and chargebacks

Please contact us before opening a card dispute so we can review the payment and any applicable guarantee. Where a chargeback is opened we may provide the payment provider with relevant records, including search activity, offers presented, acceptance records, invoice records and policy versions shown at checkout. We may refuse future service where a paid-service guarantee is abused, for example repeated paid searches with no genuine intention of taking lessons.

9. Your statutory rights

Nothing in this policy affects rights that cannot be excluded under UK consumer law. If you buy an optional paid matching service, its checkout may ask you to request that work begins immediately and will explain the applicable cancellation terms. The policy and guarantee shown when an earlier paid search was purchased remain applicable to that purchase.
