Decide what would make lessons work for you
Think about a convenient pickup, manual or automatic tuition, realistic days and times, and the skills you want to practise. You might want clear explanations, time to ask questions or a steady pace. Say which details matter most so they can be checked as part of the match.
Consider teaching fit and official checks
A good fit includes a car you are comfortable learning in, reliable arrangements and feedback that helps you know what to practise next. In Great Britain, the GOV.UK instructor list is optional, so not appearing there does not by itself mean an instructor is unapproved. In Northern Ireland, paid driving tuition must be given by a DVA-registered instructor or an eligible trainee instructor; nidirect explains how to check the licence.

Agree how lessons and progress will work
Before accepting, check how long each lesson lasts and discuss a frequency that can fit your routine. Ask how you and the instructor will review progress, set practice goals and decide what to work on next. Agree a manageable first goal so you know how the arrangement supports your learning.
Read the confirmed offer before you decide
We find and pair you with one of our vetted instructors. We confirm whether they cover your actual pickup, can meet your transmission preference and have suitable dates and times, then confirm the lesson price and negotiate the best available rate for your request. The offer sets out the instructor and terms and is held for at least 24 hours so you can consider the whole arrangement.
Know what you pay and when
The MyInstructorFinder search fee is paid upfront: £9.99 for up to 10 requested hours or £19.99 for 11 or more, plus optional £25 Priority. We keep it only if you accept an offer. If no suitable offer is found by the agreed deadline or the final held offer expires unaccepted, we refund the full fee including Priority. Declining any offer closes the entire search and brings the same full refund. Pay lesson fees directly to your instructor on the day of each lesson; no advance lesson payment or deposit is required through this service.
