Plan practice around local junctions
North Yorkshire Council’s July 2024 active-travel plan names the junctions around Market Place, Westgate and High Skellgate, as well as Somerset Row, Water Skellgate, Low Skellgate and Kirkgate. It also lists the A61 and B6265 roundabouts as locations considered for improvement options. The plan looks towards future priorities to 2032 and is not a live traffic guide. These place names can help you describe what you want to practise; your instructor should use current road signs and conditions.
Build from familiar streets to larger roundabouts
You can begin by reading the layout near Market Place and planning a safe position before a turn, then move on to larger roundabouts as your confidence grows. Tell your instructor which decisions feel difficult so lessons can progress at a useful pace. Nearby Bondgate and Borrage Green are other pickup references. The DVSA does not publish test routes, so practise observation and independent choices across different settings instead of aiming for a predicted circuit.
Your instructor and price
We find and pair you with one of our vetted instructors. We confirm actual pickup coverage, your preferred transmission, suitable dates and times, and the lesson price directly. We negotiate the best available rate from that instructor. You see the offer before accepting and it remains held for at least 24 hours, giving you time to consider the terms.
How payments work
Pay the MyInstructorFinder search fee upfront: £9.99 for up to 10 requested hours or £19.99 for 11 or more, plus optional £25 Priority. We keep it only if you accept an offer. If no suitable offer is found by the agreed deadline or the final held offer expires unaccepted, we refund the full fee including Priority. Declining any offer closes the entire search and brings the same full refund.
