Use the canal-side gateway as a local reference
At the Church Gateway, Blackburn Road, the A679, meets Henry Street and Market Street, the B6234, beside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. This historic road and canal junction is a recognisable local point to mention when planning a pickup or a lesson.
Ask your instructor to help you practise looking ahead at the junction, choosing a safe position and watching for people near the canal and nearby streets. Lessons can begin on familiar roads around Cote Holme, Milnshaw or Spring Hill and progress towards busier approaches as your confidence improves. The route and pace should be suitable for your experience and current conditions.

We pair you with one of our vetted instructors and confirm actual pickup coverage, manual or automatic preference and other requirements, dates and times, and lesson price directly. We negotiate the best available rate for your request. You see the offer before accepting; it is held for at least 24 hours.
The MIF Search Fee is paid upfront at £9.99 for up to 10 requested hours or £19.99 for 11 hours or more. Optional Priority is £25. We retain the fee only if you accept. The full Search Fee including Priority is refunded if no suitable local offer is found by the agreed search deadline, if you decline an offer, or if the final held offer expires without acceptance. Declining closes the entire search. Lesson payments go directly to your instructor on each lesson day, with no advance lesson payment or deposit.
